I am sorry for my belated reply.
19757-4 provides an example of the context element. The NVDL
script is shown in Appendix C.3. It uses context elements for
"schema" and "message" elements. Other people have already
provided good examples as well.
The semantics of "context" is described in the bottom of
Page 19. In particular, "matchPathExp" defines when
paths match path expressions and "applies" defines when
actions of "context" elements are chosen.
I agree that the spec is quite dense. Fortunately, some
good tutorials have been already written.
