Hi,
Thinking about which namespace URI might be used for the framework, I am
wondering if there is (or if there should be) an ISO policy for the
choice of namespace URIs used in ISO standards.
The problem I can see with using "http://foo.org/bar" as a namespace URI
is that if in a couple of years, the person or organization owning
"foo.org" (who or which may be the same person or organization than the
one owning it today) may either not agree any longer to "lend" the
namespace URI or even use if for another XML language (maybe a variation
over which what would have been specified as a standard or something
completely different).
In all the cases, this would lead to great confusion which would
jeopardize the long term stability which is the aim of an ISO standard.
Do you know if this has already be formalized as an ISO policy or do you
think that it should be (at least in our group)?
This is a tricky and nasty question which could also apply to Relax NG
and Schematron :-( !
