I would think on it more than twice before calling your ideas dumb :-)

I would just add to the list of interesting technologies in this domain
the XPath filer published today as a Last Call by the XML-Dsig Working
Group.

It's pursuing a different goal (signature instead of validation) but is
still an interesting reading.
