From Eric:

People using W3C XML Schema as *the* schema
language for XML do not make the distinction between the limitations and
specificities of W3C XML Schema and the limitations of XML itself.

From me:

Yes it worries me too.

One of the subtler problems when working in an environment where W3C schema
has been adopted (either explicitly or by default/consensus) is that when
you write a W3C XML schema *as the specification* of an XML structure, you
have no independent specification of the required XML structure, to use to
test that you got the W3C-style schema right. And I at least would be much
happier with such a thing, eg to generate a sufficient set of test cases,
since I know I make coding mistakes, both brain-dead ones and more subtle
ones!
