[dsdl-discuss] A personal note to DSDL'ers

Good morning, all, please forgive this personal intrusion on the bandwidth.

My wife, Kathryn, and I are very pleased to report that I was given the
"all clear" yesterday from the cancer surgeon I have been
visiting. Apparently I had four "false alarms" last year and I should have
absolutely nothing to worry about.

At Kathryn's earnest request, however, I will continue my drastically
reduced volunteer workload and not resume my DSDL activities. This is in
the strongly-held belief the reason I am no longer suffering any symptoms
is, holistically, I will be a lot healthier if I maintain a more realistic
day-to-day workload and "worry load". I am down to one OASIS committee and
my Canadian SC34 participation as my two volunteer efforts, one in each of
the two organizations in which I have been volunteering for many years,
which allows me to continue participating in these two areas at at least a
nominal level.

So I will still show up at meetings (see you all in London!), but I won't
be taking on much work for the time being. I hope this is acceptable to
all ... we will find out if Kathryn is right about this keeping my health
in check. She cites the heart problems I had in 2001 as another indication
of the body communicating its problems. I'm very sorry it has come to
light that I cannot perform as I thought I would be able to; this was a
surprise to me as well.

Thank you, sincerely, for your understanding, and for all the support I've
received from you in this time of uncertainty that we went through.

.................... Ken
