WG1ers

The UK National Body meeting to review input for Amsterdam met yesterday.
Not having received any papers relating to WG1 work it was unable to prepare
a UK position for any furtherance of WG1 work.

So far as I am aware the only people coming to Amsterdam are myself and Alex
Brown. Eric van der List will be there, but will be unable to attend any
meetings during the day. An additional problem is that W3C have scheduled a
workshop to disuss RDF and Topic Map interoperability on the Sunday from
10.00 till 5.00 (announcement due this week!). With SC34 plenaries scheduled
for Sunday and Tuesday evening this really only leaves us with Monday
evening for any discussions.

As far as I am concerned there are only two items for discussion at the
meeting, both dependent on documents that have been promised but have yet to
materialize:

1) David Carlisle has promised an updated version of the revision to 9573-11
by the end of March. Depending on the state of this document we will need to
put it out for CD or FCD balloting. This can be handled at the Tuesday
plenary as I do not expect anyone attending the WG1 meeting (other than
myself) to want to comment on this.

2) Murata-san has promised a draft for Part 4, but without him being present
I don't think we can have a meaningful discussion on it. Therefore I propose
that we handle questions or comments on this first draft by e-mail, and I
simply put forward a resolution to the effect that we handle this at the
final plenary.

Unless I hear from other people that they are coming and have some
substantive paper that they wish discussed and will provide a copy of for
national body review at least three weeks before the meeting I will not call
a WG1 meeting specifically, but hold an informal meeting in some area of RAI
(or a nearby pub!) on Monday 19th April.

UK delegates to Amsterdam expect to meet on March 31st at an XML UK meeting.
Any papers submitted before then can be discussed then, but any papers
submitted on or after this date will meet with a UK comment about the
inelegibility for consideration at the meeting. You have been warned (for
the last time).
