[dsdl-discuss] Pt 9 Progress

WG1 attendees yerterday discussed recent mailing list exchanges concerning
Part 9.

It was agreed there was still a need to service the needs of user who
wished to specify datatyping in DTDs, and who had a strong preference
for retaining validation based in DTD syntax. It was not thought
sufficient to require them use the datatyping features of part 2, if
this meant they had to adopt Part 2 wholesale, especially bearing in
mind DSDL's tolerance of overlapping functionality.

Although it was thought there may be merit in alternative approaches to
declaring DTD namespaces than those currently proposed, on balance it
was judged that the best option remains that based around processing
instructions, as agreed in Cambridge, particularly since PIs are present
in the XML infoset as is.
